Springman Leads Huskies to Win Over ESU

BLOOMSBURG-- The Bloomsburg University lacrosse team ended the regular season on Wednesday with an 18-9 win over East Stroudsburg. The Huskies will head to the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) playoffs on Friday at a time and site to be determined.

Kim Springman (Downingtown/Bishop Shanahan) got the Huskies off to a fast start against the visiting Warriors three of the Huskies first six goals to put Bloomsburg up by a 6-0 score. Springman scored her first two goals just 31 seconds apart. The Warriors rallied and cut the lead to 6-3 before Springman's fourth goal of the half gave the Huskies a 7-4 lead at the break.

In the second half East Stroudsburg trimmed the deficit to two goals, 9-7, before Bloomsburg scored five straight goals and seven of eight over a 13-minute stretch. Samantha King (Elkton, MD/Northeast) and Kelsey Schwan (Burnt Hills, NY/West Chester) each scored two goals in the Huskies offensive uprising that gave BU a 16-8 lead with 6:56 to play. Bloomsburg closed out the day's scoring with goals from Sam Alexander (Willow Grove/Upper Moreland) and Kelsey Quigley (Lansdale/Methacton).

Springman finished with five goals, while King and Schwan, Quigley and Alexander each added two goals. Molly O'Hara scored three times for the Warriors, now 7-10, 5-5 in the PSAC East.

Bloomsburg, now 12-5, 8-2 in the PSAC East, will head to the PSAC playoffs as the number two seed from the East and will play either Lock Haven or Gannon in an opening round game.
